Chinese
companies are making strides in robotics, with new models launching
rapidly. State-owned automaker Guangzhou Automobile Group (GAC) has
unveiled GoMate, a full-size humanoid robot, at the China Robotics
Network Annual Conference in Shanghai on December 26. GoMate features
advanced motion control, navigation, localization, and autonomous
decision-making.
GoMate, standing 1.75 meters tall in two-wheel mode and 1.4 meters in four-wheel mode, boasts 38 degrees of freedom and
a variable wheel-foot mobility structure. It seamlessly transitions
between four-wheel and two-wheel modes, allowing it to navigate various
terrains and obstacles. Equipped with GAC's pure-vision autonomous
driving algorithm and FIGS-SLAM technology, it ensures smooth
transitions and centimeter-level positioning precision.
The robot is powered by GAC’s all-solid-state battery, offering a six-hour runtime.
It
also features VR headset teleoperation, a sensitive obstacle-avoidance
system, and internally produced parts like motors, actuators, and
dexterous hands. GoMate is set to be tested in GAC’s auto production
lines and industrial parks, with component mass production starting this
year.
